After already reporting iPhone 3G supply issues, it looks as if O2 might have a few more problems on their hands and hundreds of punters face a long wait for their new handsets to be activated, due to servers going into meltdown.
The flagship Apple store in Regent Street, where many people queued all night to get their hands on the iPhone 3G, was worst hit, with people waiting an additional two hours to get their iPhone registered online.
Many gave up and left the store empty-handed and those who did get an iPhone were sent away to activate at home.
O2 has said that its servers, needed to sign up new customers and activate their iPhone, were “struggling to meet demand”.
Elsewhere, O2 and Carphone Warehouse were also sending people home to activate their iPhones at their leisure. So in the meantime they have a very lovely new paperweight…
