Mondeo drivers are often labelled as boring, Dido-loving, middle-aged men with questionable fashion sense. It's generally true, so Ford has made a ploy to lift itself above the Daewoos of the world by jumping into in-car tech with ‘Sync’. In a move echoing BMW’s yesterday (link below), it’s teamed up with Microsoft to pimp its 2008 Focus range. Thankfully, Tim Westwood is nowhere to be seen for this automotive alliance, which will add Wi-Fi connectivity to cars. The gizmo will be unveiled at CES in Las Vegas next week and is said to allow drivers to make VoIP calls and download content such as music to mobiles and laptops. The Microsoft link could also signal the birth of Zune compatible dashboards, but whatever happens it’s sure to have the road safety brigade banging the doors down in disgust. We’ll bring you more news next week live from the show.
