Your own personal cinema needn’t mean thousands of pounds on separates. Here are our pick of new projectors launched at IFA 2008.
First up Epson has slashed the price of all-in-one cinema by offering two projectors that’ll have you watching or gaming in seconds.
The EH-DM2 has an integrated DVD player, USB port and virtual surround sound speakers meaning you won’t have to shell out for a separate audio set up. The super-bright bulb means it’ll project confidently without the need for pitch blackness. The more expensive EH-TW420 supports a resolution of 1280 x 720 and with an HDMI input it screams gaming.
But if you’ve significantly more cash to splash, the £2500 TW5000 spits out sharpness at 1920 x 1080 with an amazing 75,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio.
Sony join in on the high def action by adding to their Bravia range of HD projectors. The VPL-HW10 showed off its new sleeker lines at IFA as well as its All Range Crisp Focus lens and 2.5ms response time.
On the other end of the scale, Toshiba are rumoured to be launching a mobile phone sized projector similar to Optoma’s Pico. Look out for more news soon.
