Despite our forward-thinking nature when it comes to tech, we know that the rest of the country isn’t always able to keep up. While the kit may be available, the coverage just isn’t up to scratch.

Perhaps you’re visiting your Uncle Hamish in the highlands of Scotland and he’s not even got a TV, let alone one capable of picking up a digital signal.

Luckily, Elgato’s latest EyeTV Hybrid for the Mac comes bundled with an aerial for receiving a regular analogue signal in addition to modern digital ones. So, even if you’re out of Freeview range, you can tune in for the Big Brother finale using the old-fashioned binary-free method.

It’s got all the same features of the regular EyeTV as well, which means the Hybrid will connect with a games console enabling you to take your 360 with you too, despite Hamish’s lack of a box. It’ll also record shows and convert them to iPod and PSP friendly formats.

Geography need never stop you watching telly again.
