When Rick Moranis shrunk his poor offspring in the 1989 comedy classic Honey, I Shrunk the Kids it was very nearly a tragic disaster. When Palm launched its smallest smartphone ever yesterday, the Centro, it was a glorious day for literally tens of people.
Joking aside, there is a medium-sized army of people out there who swear by Palm products and the Centro looks like the return to form that could cheer them up.
Admittedly it's more double-breasted suit to the iPhone's casual jeans and t-shirt, and the specs won't make your face spontaneously combust, but the Palm operating system is one of the best around for keeping contacts and appointments in order.
The Centro gets a full keyboard, touchscreen and a 1.6MP camera for the odd spontaneous snap. With just 64MB of on-board storage and internet access in trickles over GPRS, rather than the relative flood of 3G, it's no multimedia powerhouse either. But for no frills organisation the Palm Centro could be your perfect pal.
