Hands-on video - FLO TV

It is widely known that mobile TV has been a bit of a let down and, as a result, has failed to take off in the UK. FLO TV, however, is hoping for more success from its intriguing PTV. And we've got a hands-on video with it*.

But before you get excited, we should make it clear that FLO TV's subscription based service, which also runs on dedicated handsets and gives you access to a range of full length TV programmes in real-time, is currently US only, with not a UK launch in sight.

This really is a shame as with no broadcast signals or 3G, which basically means no network interruptions, the PTV makes for great TV on the move.

However, while it may not be making its way over to this side of the pond untill 2012 (yes, that long), that didn't stop us getting some hands-on time with the FLO TV's pocket-sized PTV in New York. We were suitably impressed with it back at CES in January, but check out our hands-on video and take it in for yourself.

It's arguable that a portable device such as this is redundant when the service is available on mobile phones, doesn't offer other media playback and doesn't even have an MicroSD card slot, but what do you think? Would you snap up a PTV, or watch real-time TV on your blower? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below.

*The PTV's pricing details have since changed and is now available for $199, not $250, as stated in the video. The service has also added CNN Mobile across all FLO TV-enabled devices.
