Hands on with the Sony Ericsson W880i

Given that i've been banging the drum for the iPhone, I'm slightly ashamed to say that I've fallen for the charms ofSony Ericsson's new top-of-the-range W880i Walkman phone.

The user interface isn't groundbreaking, the buttons are so tiny you have to use your fingernails and the on-board memory is weedy. But just look at it: it's 9mm thick. It's encased in steel. It has a beautifully bright screen and wonderfully rendered menus. It's gadget heaven.

I'll be posting a full review very soon, which will no doubt mention the lack of a flash on the 2MP camera, the impossible-to-press side buttons and the missing 3.5mm earphone jack. But I'll struggle to capture the joy of having the W880i in my pocket.

Still, i'm seeing the LG Pradaphone tomorrow. Perhaps I'll have a new love.

Superficial, me?
