There have been rumours of a Samsung-Adidas tie-up since last year, so it didn’t come as a surprise that Samsung launched their stripey branded F110 phone at Mobile World Congress.
But now we have it officially. The miCoach mobile, for so it has been branded, will be available to fitness freaks in Europe from mid-March.
Thankfully it’s one of the more subtlely branded phones, bearing just a small Adidas logo, as well as having some useful training features.
As well as being a normal music mobile, the Adidas miCoach is also a performance monitor. It comes with a heart monitor you strap on your chest and a trainer mounted stride sensor. They connect wirelessly to the phone and give you feedback on your heartrate and the distance you’ve covered.
It’ll also give you audio feedback, telling you when you’ve reach your optimum heartrate or ‘energy zone’ and giving you little progress reports throughout your workout.
And the miCoach can tailor music to your workout. Just like the Nike +, drop below your energy zone and on comes a power song – Eye of the Tiger for the Stuff training session.
Other features of the miCoach are modest: 2MP camera, GPRS data and a 2in screen. But 1GB of onboard data should be enough music space from warm up to cool down. Or collapse, if you’re us.
The miCoach will be joining you on your workout in 7 colours: Dark Gray, Tech Silver, Pink Red, Cool Gray, Sapphire Blue, Misty Blue and Sweet Pink.
