It normally takes something pretty special to drag the Stuff team away from Guitar Hero – a dog dressed as Yoda would probably do it, or merely the promise of free booze, but the prospect of learning to be a real rock star is a guaranteed head turner.
Well by the end of the year we could be well on our way to impersonating our hero, Eddie Van Halen, with the launch of a game-cum-teacher called Guitar Rising.
The PC or Mac compatible software lets you plug in any six-string electric guitar and helps teach you to play a set of songs with its Guitar Hero-style interface. Like GH there’ll be range of difficulty settings to cater for both wannabe Brian Mays and bona fide Jeff Becks.
No word yet on which rock classics will be included but CEO of the developer GameTank has said the company is ‘in the process of licensing popular rock songs’. Fingers crossed for Scorpions’ Winds of Change and anything by Skid Row.
No word on a UK release date as yet but head on over to the Guitar Rising website for a demo, or check out our latest vidcast for a guide on forming your very own rock band.
