We're still recovering from Spinal Tap's revival at the Live Earth gig; "Hello Wimbledon" – classic. Now our next hard-rock fix is just weeks away. And first thing to note is it's had a name change – no longer merely just Guitar Hero III, but now Guitar Hero III: Legends Of  Rock. We like. And here's the instrument that'll be turning us into said legends. Gibson Guitar's Les Paul will be getting thrashed in bedrooms up and down the land. Pictured here in its début Wii guise (note the wiimote slot) it is completely wireless on all platforms: Wii, PS3 and Xbox 360.PS2 peeps will also be going wire-free for off the bed stage diving finales, using the black Gibson Kramer. For the first time we'll also be able to customise with faceplates – lightening bolt guitar here we come. And one other titbit for you… as well as downloadable tracks and online rock-outs, you'll be able to take on Slash of Guns 'n' Roses fame who pre-recorded a session down at RedOctane's pad. Beat him and his character will be unlocked and playable. That should all give Rock Band a run for its money when they both launch later in the year – you'll understand if we shut down the website for a couple of months' research round about then.Essentials Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock Price: £TBA On sale: October Contact: RedOctane Related stories: School's Out for Guitar Hero III – without wires Guitar Hero III stage dives onto PS3 and Wii Gaming Stuff : Guitar Hero forms Rock Band
