Those gadget brutalisers at iFixit have done it again. Last week we saw the delicate guts of the iPod Nano 5G, now they've dissected the iPod Touch 3G. With its modesty revealed for all to see, it seems the iPod Touch 3G could accommodate a camera.
There's a space at the top of the iPod Touch 3G. It measures 6mm x 6mm x 6mm and could in theory fit the same camera unit as the iPod Nano 5G. So don't be surprised to see a snapper shoved in to the iPod Touch 4G next year.
There's also a few other little untapped abilities hidden in the iPod Touch 3G. The ARM processor it uses is a newer version of the one used in the iPhone 3GS but iFixit couldn't work out exactly how fast it runs. The Broadcom radio chip built-in to the iPod Touch 3G has an integrated FM receiver and transmitter so we could see FM radio skills in a future version of the iPod Touch.
The question is: could the rumours of an iPod Touch 3G with a built-in camera ditched at the last moment have been true? And if the iPod Touch could, in theory, contain an FM tuner just like the iPod Nano 5G, why not just add it now?
