We’re not ones to say 'We told you so', but, dear readers, as early as last week we reported whispers that online giant Google was about to make the jump from the virtual realm and into our very hands, via a phone handset.Well, it looks as if this particular iPhone-esque piece of web hype just might be as true as the once-fabled Apple device, as the head of Google in Spain has let it slip that the company is indeed working on a mobile. Isabel Aguilara has been quoted as saying: 'Some of the time the engineers are dedicated to developing a mobile phone.'Although her more taciturn counterparts in the US have remained tight-lipped on the subject, the flames have further been fanned by blog reports that the Google Phone will be a BlackBerry-like device, with optimized Java and VoIP.As previously reported, leaked documents and pics on the net suggest a Google partnership with Samsung, codenamed 'Switch'. Not as far fetched as it may sound, when you consider that the companies paired up in January to provide mobile versions of Google apps on some new Samsung releases.Behind the scenes, Google has been doing some pretty telling wheeling and dealing, acquiring the likes of Skia, a mobile phone graphics company, and Reqwireless, a mobile apps outfit. Well, don't say we didn't tell you so…
