The folks over at TechCrunch have heard the news from multiple sources, that say the search engine giant has spent the past few weeks in talks with major music labels to get them on side.

Apparently called Google Audio, the new service will be available in America at the very least, but whether it will be a download service, streaming service or both remains to be seen.

What is known is that it will be (unfortunately) different to the music download service launched by Google in China last year, which allows users to search and download music for free.
