Google to buy Motorola's Android business

Motorola Mobility Holdings Inc to be sold for $12.5 billion

Today Google has announced its plan to buy Motorola Mobility Holdings Inc for US$12.5 billion. Run as a separate business, it will remain a licensee of Android and is expected to help the Android platform develop even faster.

The deal won't be sealed until around the end of this year, pending regulatory approval, but should spell a prosperous new chapter for Motorola who has already been upping its game with innovative tech like the Atrix, Xoom, and rumoured KORE.
