We're expecting an announcement on the new Mac OS X Leopard any day now but the rumour mill is spinning with speculation on what extras Steve Jobs might be unveiling at the same time.Top of the list is a replacement for the Mac Mini. We reported back in May that the smallest Mac in the house (pictured) could be going but now it seems it's only to make way for an even more compact Mac Nano. That might not be the final name but it would echo the transition the iPod Mini went through when it slimmed down to become the iPod Nano we now know and love.We hear it'll shrink by around a quarter and be a 'strikingly different' design to the current line-up. Intruiging. But there's more. A separate rumour is that Apple TV is to get a revamp with the addition of an optical drive for spinning your CDs and DVDs, a larger hard drive and the availability of hi-def 720p content on the iTunes video store, rather than the current 640x480 VGA fare. The current guestimate is for a Leopard launch some time around the end of this month. We'll be keeping an eye out for any Apple-shaped invites.EssentialsContact: AppleRelated stories:Mac Mini gets a speed boostApple unveils three new iMacs, revamped iLifeMac Mini on the edge of extinction?
