Solar generated electricity has never been the most portable of things, mainly due to the rigid panels. But now Brunton has released the power with their SolarRoll Power Range.

The SolarRoll is a flexible strip of sun-sucking panel, with various connectors, to power camcorders, phones and GPS devices.

But the price is somewhat steep. The cheapest Rolls start at $200 in the US for the SolarRoll 4 (300x550mm). Sadly for our wallets, the only UK available rolls we could find started at the larger SolarRoll9 (300x1000mm) for £200 at G-Comm.

If it means we can leave the various plugs, chargers, adaptors and ready supply of AA batteries at home, we think it sounds like a great idea.

If the prices come down we can envisage the Solar Roll becoming a standard sight in everyone’s holiday packing.

Roll on summer.
