Thankfully we won't have long to wait because Mass Effect 2 is due out on the Xbox 360 before the end of January.
The first edition of this epic space opera was excellent and the developers have promised big improvements, particularly to the combat system. If it lives up to the hype it's going to be an early contender for one of the year's highlights.
Wii owners also have lots to look forward too. Not least Super Mario Galaxy 2, which will doubtless be another slice of princess-saving magic. But there's also Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, a motion control-enhanced revival of the first game in horror series.
And then there's Project Natal, Microsoft's motion controller on steroids, although it's not clear when it will come out. But with the Fable III and the intriguing Milo & Kate already set to take advantage of it, it's shaping up to be the most interesting hardware development in games since the Wii.
But what are you looking forward to in 2010?
