Vodafone's shrunk the HSDPA modem. After being first to launch a USB mobile broadband gizmo, it's now gone and brought one out in stick form.
Called, appropriately enough, 'The Stick', it plugs directly into a waiting USB slot with no dangling wires to get in the way.
It's also capable of the latest 7.2Mbps download speeds. Okay, so you'll only get that fast a connection in airports and central London, but plans are afoot to spread the service to the bounds of the M25 then into the grateful provinces.
The cost is £150 for pay as you go types, with a whopping £8.50 on top for each day it's used – and all those prices exclude VAT, as it's aimed at business types.
However, £25 a month for Voda's flat rate (with 3GB fair use policy) plus an 18- or 24-month commitment will snare you one on contract. Those signing up for the full two years get three free months and save on the £50 up-front asking price. Deal!
