If you're the sort of tech-savvy movie buff that has a huge collection of digital videos but is sick of squinting to watch them on your PC monitor, Traxdata's new USB Player could be just the gizmo for you.

This little box hooks up to your telly via HDMI, letting you watch almost any digital video (or audio or image) format under the sun.

It's compatible with MPEG-1, MPEG-2, XviD, AVI, VOB, DAT, MP3, WAV and JPEG files, plus most of the common subtitle files, playing them, as the name suggests, straight from a USB device.

It comes with a remote control and can upscale video to 1080i when you use the HDMI connection. Other options include component video and composite video.

It's available now, priced at £60. You can peruse the full list of specs at the official Traxdata website.
