Gadget of the Day – Sony SRS-DZ10

Sweeping our Creative system out of the way with one almighty clang of its protruding silver sub, Sony's arrived to give every Vaio the speaker setup

Sweeping our Creative system out of the way with one almighty clang of its protruding silver sub, Sony's arrived to give every Vaio the speaker setup it deserves.Going for style as well as substance (but mainly style) the snappily named SRS-DZ10 features two subtly arranged stereo outposts and one giant silver horn of a subwoofer. All three get wrapped in cool-to-the-touch aluminium. As does the desktop power switch with convenient volume and bass controls, an independent input for an MP3 player and a headphone jack for when the room shaking bass starts to trouble the neighbours. And in case the bass-maker escapes anyone's attention, it also has its own neon blue backlight. This is not a sub that likes to be hidden away behind the sofa. There's no five channels from two, virtual surround sound shenanigans going on, just pure, beefy 32W stereo. Anyway, who cares about surround sound when they look this good?
