Relief was the emotion of the day at Stuff this morning. It had been an age since we’d seen a Lego hard drive or an orange USB key from LaCie. We feared it had gone all sensible. But it was just toying with us in preparation for the launch of this crazy USB hub. The Huby (pronounced hub-ee) was designed by Ora-Ïto of Adidas and Honda fame, who seems to be fond of the adage ‘organised chaos’. The bulbous base houses five USB 2.0 ports and three FireWire 400 ports. It also comes with eight ‘stems’ to connect to your keyboard, mouse or external hard drive, including a USB fan and light.Further charm is provided by coloured LEDs for each port and, if you fancy filling up your windowsill with them, there’s the option of daisy-chaining extra Hubys via USB or FireWire. You may, though, be branded and shunned as a periphermaniac.
