The Pearl is back – and it's better. Yes, after launching in Spain, of all places, earlier this month, it's come north to these cooler climes courtesy of Vodafone.
It's largely the same non-3G pocket emailer as the original with its shoehorned keyboard and eponymous pearl controller in place of the usual scroll wheel. Now though, as with the 8120, the lowly 1.3MP camera has been tossed asunder and replaced by a mildly more acceptable 2MP snapper.
More exciting is the fact that RIM's also squeezed in the GPS that was sorely missing from the original, for use with the built-in maps app.
Best of all, Vodafone's loaded it with its own 3D sat-nav software complete with traffic updates. Sadly you'll have to pay a premium to use the service.
Oh, and unlike the 8120, there also still no Wi-Fi on there. Ah well, can't have everything can we?
