Foxconn is reportedly in talks to up its 10 percent stake in Japanese electronics giant Sharp – and that could mean Apple’s long-rumoured HDTV is one step closer to reality.
Foxconn is the world’s largest producer of electrical components, and already manufactures Apple products like the iPad and iPhone in its Chinese factories. Gaining a larger stake in a television maker like Sharp – which supplies the LCD panels for the new iPad’s Retina Display screen – could see the two firms enter the supply chain for Apple’s TV set.
While the Apple HDTV has never been officially announced, the general consensus in the tech world is that it’s coming. Interest piqued? Check out our rumour round-up.
