Fossil flaunts kinetic watches

Fossil has just announced a couple of fine timepieces for anyone who fancies dispensing with pesky batteries and prefers to power their watch themselves.

The FS4171 (pictured above, left) is our personal favourite. It has a dashing red rotor – the bit that helps turn the mini power generator – that visibly moves as you flail your arms around.

The slightly more refined FS4132 (pictured above, right) also has a visible rotor and matches its leather band with a stainless steel case.

We’re not completely sold on the idea that automatic quartz watches (like Seiko’s pioneering Kinetic range) are much greener than standard mechanical models as their ‘accumulators’ won’t run forever. But the large rotors on these Fossils certainly look smart.

Both are available now for £55 from Fossil outlets, which are listed at the official site here.
