After a rather leaky entrance to the market last week, Flip has finally made the Flip Ultra HD official and put the mini camcorder up for sale on its US-only website.

But don't fear UK gadget fans. Stuff.tv has had exclusive word from gadget superstore Firebox that we will be seeing the Ultra HD in the UK later this year.

Although Flip has apparently been tight lipped on pricing and exact availability for us Brits, the Firebox gang are expecting the see the camcorder in their stockrooms sometime around the summer or early autumn.

For some idea of cost, it's showing up as $199 on the Flip website, and for that you'll get a 2-inch anti-glare screen, two hours of HD video capture on its 8GB internal memory, an HDMI port for output to your HDTV and a rechargeable AA battery pack.

Also launched alongside the Ultra HD in the States was a new Ultra, which comes with more memory than its predecessor and a bigger screen as well. no word on if this will be hitting the UK as yet though.

As always we'll keep you updated, but be sure to check out what we thought of the first Flip Ultra, as well as the other Flips in the family.
