Google's new web browser, Chrome, is expected to be launched for Windows later today. And the first screenshots of the Internet Explorer rival are now appearing online, apparently taken from a private product tour.

If they're real - and they look pretty believable - then they show a clean, refined user interface that we'd expect from Google. And it shouldn't be hard to make the UI work with Mac OS when an Apple-compatible version appears sometime in the unspecified future.

It's interesting to note that there's no separate search box - you type in search terms or addresses into the 'omnibox' instead.
