Remember the First Else phone? It was exciting stuff back in November when it emerged with its innovative notifications, location-based reminders and unique UI, designed for one-handed use.
We were also looking forward to a 5MP cam, 3.5in touchscreen, 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS and over-the-air back-up, though we were less tantalised by the promise of a device-specific media store.
At that time, we reported that Emblaze – the manufacturer – was “confident it will hit shelves in Q2 next year.” But as we begin Q3 there has been no sign, and now the company has admitted that the project had been waylaid once too often and has decided to cancel it for good.
Of course, if you’ve got a spare few million quid, you might be able to license the idea yourself and bring it to market. Any takers?
