Find forgotten gems with Lost Tunes

One of my favourite things about digital music is how it makes hard-to-find music, well, easier to find. Rather than trawling through rows and rows of old records in the dingy basement of a second hand shop you can lay your digital hands on that lost gem with no more trouble than a few keystrokes and a bash of the enter button. To make it even simpler, Universal Music has launched Lost Tunes. No, not a website dedicated to the music of the tedious, island-based TV drama series but a place to find all those long lost tunes you've been on the hunt for. It's powered by 7digital so it all feels very familiar, with short previews available and all tracks in 320kbps MP3. Right now there are 620 albums on the store, so it's still a way off challenging iTunes in terms of content, but if my campaign to have The Fratellis 'lost' from musical history is a success there'll be 622 very soon.
