It's very much a Pro Evo office here at Stuff Towers, with our inaugural tournament about to wrap up with its final game (I have to beat staff writer, Dan Street, by two goals in order to win, in case you're interested) but over at Games Convention in Leipzig (Europe's answer to E3) EA has announced a neat new addition to its FIFA franchise: real life player updates. When FIFA 09 launches later in the year its player stats will be updated weekly to accurately reflect what's going on on the pitches of football grounds across the world. So if Robbie Keane has a calamitous time at Anfield or Ronaldinho sets fire to the San Siro (not literally, I hope) it'll be the same in the game.Dubbed Adidas Live Season it'll work on the PS3, 360 and PC versions of the game and apply to the English Premier League, Spain's La Liga, Ligue 1 dans France, Serie A and the Mexican Primera Division.A bench coat-wearing team of scouts will be dotted across the globe feeding back data on who's hot and who's not. Think of it as a 21st century version of fantasy football. Will it be enough to sway our allegiance? We'll find out when FIFA 09 launches later in the year.
