Nintendo’s DS and Wii: two gaming marvels from the same manufacturer, yet strangely uncommunicative when placed side by side.
Not for long. Ninty's el Presidente, Mr Reggie Fils-Aime, has told our friends on the New York Times that DS will soon be tapping up Wii for game downloads and other goodies.
The DS demos and added extras will be piped wirelessly from Wii's broadband connection via the portable's Wi-Fi link. New levels for games, such as the upcoming Professor Layton puzzler, will be ready and waiting, alongside a clutch of other surprises.
It all sounds very similar to Japan's ‘Everybody's Nintendo Channel’, with its DS game demos, promo videos and Nintendo news all reached via the Wii. That launched in November; hopefully it won't be too long until the equivalent lands here.
