Who needs a fancy Virgin Lobster phone? The Beeb’s announced that it's to start piping BBC One, BBC Three and News 24 direct to our 3G mobiles for free, from next month. So that’s Doctor Who, The Mighty Boosh and Jon Sopel’s haircut all for no-money-down, save data costs. The deal with Orange, Vodafone and 3 also stretches to all of the corporation’s national radio channels (including BBC 7 and 6 Music) but sadly not Radio Five Live – so that’s Nicky Campbell and freebie Premiership football out then.T-Mob, O2 and Virgin customers are also sadly excluded, though the broadcaster is stating that the launch is only a trial, so perhaps it might roll-out to all if a full launch gets the go ahead.
