Design classics: Pilot Myu

Fountain pens are old-fashioned, and it takes something special to draw your attention away from that fact. What Pilot did was take a classic concept and reimagine it for the space age.

Launched in the ‘70s, the Myu fountain pens were like futuristic quills built by Terminators, with Japanese elegance and cleanliness of design that the Scandinavians could only dream of. A stainless-steel barrel flowed seamlessly down to become the nib - beautiful and stylish, but also making them incredibly compact and sturdy, so perfect for pockets.

They may have been inspired by the titanium Parker T-1, but they weren't a massive flop like the short-lived T-1, and looked less fussy.
