Last week we were berating Dell’s decision to launch its new Studio 19 in Japan only, with no news of a UK release. But after seven days of protests and prank phone calls from us, it’s finally given in and announced European prices and launch dates.
The smart all-in-one’s basic configuration will be starting at £579 and will be available from 27th April from Dell’s store.
It also sounds more like Dell’s answer to the HP Touchsmart range than we initially thought. Go for the optional touch-sensitive screen and you’ll apparently be able to do multi-touch photo editing, web browsing and, er, ‘finger painting’ via ‘You Paint’ software.
The base model is extremely basic, but you can pimp it up with the optional Blu-ray drive, Wi-Fi, webcam and ‘facial recognition security’, for that Minority Report touch.
You can also get up to 4GB memory, a 640GB hard-drive, a GeForce 9400 graphics card and a Core 2 Quad Core processor, though we suspect that this will push the price into four-figure territory.
