Business tech has traditionally been a yawnsome subject, but with products like the Blackberry Bold, the Nokia E66 and E71 and Apple’s iPhone, business is getting sexy.

Dell hopes it’s bringing some of that ‘I want’ factor to its business laptops with the launch of its new Latitude E series. At a very Apple style simultaneous broadcast from San Fran to London, we said hello to seven new laptops last night.

Ranging from the 15.4 and 14.1in E6500 and E6400, through the mid-range E5500 and E5400 and the rugged E6400 ATG the E series has sleek looks, high performance and manilla envelope skinny bodies. And that includes the new ultraportable 13.3 and 12.1in E4300 and E4200,

You’ll find a sleek magnesium alloy chasis, backlit keyboard, fingerprint reader and an amazing 19hrs of battery life in all the models. Solid state drives reduce boot up time and weight on the E6500, E6400, E4300 and E4200, the latter of which is under a kilo.

Inside you’ll find an Intel Centrino 2 processor running things while Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1, GPS and optional 3G keep you connected. And they’re all Wimax ready for when the future comes knocking.

Colour-wise, you can choose from Mica-Brushed Metal, Regal Red and Regatta Blue. Exclusive to the E4200, Quartz-Pink will raise a few eyebrows in the board room.

Dell wouldn’t be drawn on their long awaited 9in netbook, but we saw a glint in the eye that means we should see something well before the end of the year.
