You’d hope that a company called Creative might be a bit more inspired with its wordplay – it’s just launched the ZenCast, its response to the word of the year winning ‘podcast’. Now that’s hitting the iPod where it hurts.

Uninspired naming aside, ZenCast will do the usual podcasting – sorry, Zen casting - job by providing thousands of free audio and video blogs for download, a load of free entertainment, news and sport, plus the opportunity to create and post your own show.

If you go to the home page (here) there’s a bunch of channels with a range of subjects from world affairs to tech gadgets – hold on a minute, tech gadgets are a world affair aren’t they? Of course they are. And you can test just how gadget-worldly you are by checking out the mighty Stuff podcast right there.

To get in on the ZenCast act, you’ll need to own either a Creative Zen Vision or Zen Vision: M (above). If that’s you, go here and download the ZenCast Organiser. The Organiser integrates podcasts and video blogs with your player, so if you’ve got a Zen it’ll be a bit slicker than using the usual shareware.

Then, you’ll be able to slurp up all the content you want and, of course, subscribe to Stuff's epic pod/Zencast. You know it makes sense.
