The rumour horse that is the internet has been busy whetting our appetites with stories that MP3 player legend Creative is about to release a 32GB flash memory media player.
But Creative has told us it simply isn’t happening. A leading IT website was credited with quoting Creative as saying the 32GB player wouldn’t be available any time before 2008. There are even a few cheeky listings of a 32GB flash player on various Creative product listings around the States.
‘It’s simply not true’, a UK spokesperson for Creative told Stuff. ‘There are no plans to release anything of that size’.
Creative has already confirmed it has no plans to release its 16GB flash player in the UK. So if rumours of the 32GB model turn out to be true, we may not even see it in this country. Now that would be a crime.
A thumping 32GB of flash memory would be blisteringly fast compared to your poxy moving-parts HDD types, with their clanking and whirring.
Only a year ago such a player seemed like an expensive and pointless dream, but now, having seen what the iPod Touch can do, 32 gigs of flash player seems more real by the day.
