Channel 4’s back catalogue headed to 4oD for free

Channel 4 is set to give its 4oD catchup service a boost, offering up 4,000 hours of its back catalogue for viewers to watch online for free.Set to go

Set to go live from July, this will mean around 10,000 programme titles will be available for your viewing pleasure, saving you cash on box sets for shows like Father Ted, Brass Eye, Teachers and Shameless.

The Guardian is also reporting that Brookside fans will be able to relive some of their favourite moments from the now off-air soap, and old episodes of lifestyle shows like Grand Designs will also be up for grabs.

All this content will join the current on demand service, which offer viewers access to programmes up to 30 days after broadcast.

The move is the first of it’s kind in the UK, and will certainly give BBC’s iPlayer something to think about – let us know what you think about it below.
