Channel 4 comes to iTunes

iTunes still isn’t offering squat when it comes to movies here in Blighty. But Channel 4 has brought a Hollywood smile to our glum British mugs with the announcement they’re shovelling a raft of shows onto Apple’s download service.

This means you’ll be able to snaffle the likes of Peep Show, Spaced and Shameless at £1.89 a pop. Entire series are also up for grabs, at the DVD-alike price of £9.

Sadly, it doesn’t look like classic episodes of Games Master or the Crystal Maze are available at the time of going to press. Shocking isn’t it?

4’s move comes just weeks after the BBC decided to put its shows up on iTunes, but only after they’ve fallen off their own iPlayer service.

The news comes hot on the heels of news that ITV is prepping big changes to its own online offering over the summer.

How this affects plans by the big three terrestrial players to form a joint web portal remains to be seen. But man do we like the idea of a big dirty TV fight coming to t’internet.
