Robosapien and RoboPanda weren't enough, WowWee are back at CES with another troupe of robotic rabble-rousers.
First up is Tribot, essentially a three-wheeled, sprightlier 'Sapien who will whizz around with aplomb thanks to a Wiimote-style motion-sensitive remote. He'll even tell you jokes, abeit in a slightly camp fashion.
For a few dollars more he can be upgraded to Mr personality complete with LED face onto which new expressions can be downloaded. Expect both to whizz to the UK in the summer.
If you like you three-wheeled funa bit more grown-up, the Rovio might be up your street. Equipped with a webcam and GPS system, he knows where home is and will always return there, while his built-in Wi-Fi means that you can do a spot of in-house spying using your PSP or iPod Touch to see through his eyes. A lot more fun than a guard dog and much less messy.
But if you just fancy scaring the bejeesus out of your pets rather than replacing them altogether, you want a Bladestar. Much like its predecessor, the Dragonfly, Bladestar is essentially a remote-controlled propellor designed to mess with the weaker-brained members of the family (pets, kids, granny, etc).
Unlike Dragonfly, it has infra-red sensors so it will avoid objects, so reducing lost eyes to a minimum. Which is nice.
