Spanking new MP3 players may be thin on the ground at CES, but two interesting updates have been announced: SanDisk’s Sansa View will now be available in a 32GB flavour and, curiously, Creative has given its Zen Stones a speaker.
Already available since last September in 8GB and 16GB flavours, SanDisk’s latest addition to the View family goes on sale in the States from February with a $350 (£175) price-tag.
It sports a 2.4in 320x240-pixel screen and that whopping memory will be enough for around 50 movies, depending on compression rates. Battery consumption could have Apple worried, too: Sandisk claims a life of 35 hours with audio, or seven hours with video.
Not to be outdone, Creative announced a tweak to their tiny Zen Stone and Zen Stone Plus flash players. In a move sure to infuriate silence-loving commuters, both models will now come with a tiny – and potentially tinny – speaker on the back.
The new Zen Stone is available in 1GB and 2GB versions, while the Zen Stone Plus comes in 2GB and 4GB models. US prices start from $50, though there’s no word yet on UK prices.
