It's been a busy day over at Canon HQ. Our gadget senses were already tingling with the announcement of a new IXUS but the svelte camera king swiftly followed the news with details on a new high-end Powershot and an HD camcorder, sending us into effervesce mode. The gadget drool now mopped up, we've had a chance to cast an eye over the specs.First up, the IXUS 950 IS (pictured) is a replacement for the 800 IS. It keeps the optically stabilised, shake-free 4x zoom but bumps up the megapixel count to eight. Canon's also dropped in its speedy new Digic III processor with face recognition and in-camera red-eye removal that impressed us so much in the Ixus 75.Need more? Then may we direct you to the 12x zooming (yes, twelve), black-suited PowerShot S5 IS, which also gets an 8MP sensor, optical image stabilisation and the magic Digic III ingredient. And while you recover from that, have a gander at the deets for the tiny, 10x zooming HR10. It's Canon's first AVCHD 'corder, burning straight to mini DVDs in lush 1080i quality for playback on AVCHD-friendly players, including the PS3. Oops, there goes that drool again.
