Canon gets skinny with its new IXUS duo

Canon unveils IXUS 230 HS and 1100 HS compacts

Don't let the dazzling silver and bright blue design fool you – Canon's new compacts mean business. The IXUS 230 and IXUS 1100 each have a 12.1MP sensor, the new Canon IS system to steady your shots plus 8x and 10x optical zoom lenses respectively.

Both also shoot full HD 1080p video which you can play back on the IXUS 230's 3in LCD screen or the smidgeon larger 3.2in touchscreen on the IXUS 1100. They're pretty damn pocket friendly, too – the duo are now the slimmest in each of their classes of compact camera.

However the IXUS 1100's lens and touchscreen capabilities come at a premium. Pick up the IXUS 230 for £229 come October and you'll still have to fork out £369 for the higher-specced 1100.
