B&W is music to Jaguar ears

Ever since we first clapped eyes on it, we’ve been gazing in slack-jawed lust at the new Jaguar concept car, the C-XF, and it’s gadget-laden interior.

Things took a turn for the worse this morning as details of a B&W sound system for the motor were thrust into our eager digits, and while the puddles of drool grew larger, we fell to the floor into a gadget-worshipping coma.

Better known for supplying astronomically expensive kit to recording studios it’s the first time the audio artistes have dabbled in in-car entertainment and for a debut, it certainly sounds like a pretty top-notch effort.

The system takes elements from B&W’s none-more-awesome 800 Diamond Series of speakers, while the incorporation of Kevlar cone drivers offers a smoother response. Handily, Kevlar is also bullet proof, should you choose to give 50 Cent a lift to his Nan’s.

‘Bass beam’ subwoofer drivers are stashed in the doors and the addition of a rear deck panel is designed to give an even sound throughout the cockpit of the flashest of Jag’s rides. Add all of this to the Alpine ICE system (that’s in-car entertainment to you pedestrians) that’s installed in the car and you’ll be ready to hit the Abbey Road.
