The idea is to get the entire country involved in the digital age, although how this will be implemented remains unclear. Word is though that the BBC will be forced to use some of its licence fee to pay for it, presumably with iPlayer now a huge part of TV fans watching habits.
We'd be looking at a rather sluggish 2Mbps connection. But seeing as around 40 per cent of households still lack broadband or the infrastructure to even get it, this is a step in the right direction.
What do you think? And how do you think it should be paid for? Tell us in the comments section.
