Not satisfied with unveiling Virgin Media in the middle of Covent Garden this month, the Great Bearded One has informed us of another media venture he's mulling over – this time in the world of gaming. It seems Virgin Games has been drinking tea with Game Domain International to come up with a new download service called A World Of My Own, or AWOMO.Due for a launch later this year, it hopes to do for gaming what Apple did for music. A platter of freshly streamed games will be served up over a high-speed delivery service with added opportunities for online gaming and multiplayer tournaments. But don't expect bandwidth clogging downloads of World of Warcraft or Gears of War; most of the content will be designed specifically for the AWOMO platform. There's no word on charges yet but games will be offered on both a pay-per-play and subscription basis. We await whatever madcap publicity stunt the PR team dreams up for this one.
