One look at tonight’s listings has confirmed once again that TV today is rubbish, but this really is the final insult for the tube – Bang & Olufsen has fitted its latest LCD with a DAB radio.
The 23in BeoCenter 6-23 has been slated as a rich person’s bedroom telly, and delivers B&O’s usual clean lines with a 1366x768 pixel resolution.
Unfortunately, its Danish designers got so carried away squeezing in the DAB radio and its 99 presets that they forgot to equip it with an HDMI port to make it HD-ready, a crime which is now punishable by a public pelting with pastries, bacon and cheese.
It’s a particularly irksome omission when you consider the steep price, but there is a DVI connection for your PC and three video-in sockets for gadgets like camcorders by way of compensation.
We’re also prepared to forgive it because of its ridiculous number of available paint jobs – you can deck it out in either silver, black, grey, red, blue or, our favourite, yellow. Combine with flowery beige wallpaper for maximum effect.
