Now the HD disk market can really get started. The death of HD DVD has lead to a sudden jump in sales of Blu-ray players.
Dixons is reporting that demand has leapt 150% – so much so that it only has the £247 Samsung BDP1400 (pictured) left in stock.
Meanwhile Play.com is cancelling all leave and paying triple overtime. Its warehouse staff have been kept busy, with demand for Blu-ray players increasing seven-fold. The company has sold more on one day than it did for the whole of last week. Perhaps it's not surprising, as it has the same Samsung player for £199.
Seems £80 HD DVD players aren't the only bargains to be had.
