Taking on a smaller and lighter design to its predecessor, the Bold 9700 also promises a boosted processor for faster web browsing, 2.4-inch screen, a 3.2 megapixel camera, 3G and Wifi connectivity, and built-in GPS.
The full QWERTY keypad remains, as does the stylish leatherette back, however the often sticky trackball of the original Bold has been replaced by a touch-sensitive trackpad instead.
On board storage is similarly poor at 256MB, but can be expanded up to 16GB via microSD with a 2GB card included in the box, and audiophiles will be pleased to hear there is a 3.5mm jack for using your own cans as well.
Finally, despite the slimmer shell, battery life has been boosted meaning you'll get 6 hours of talktime and 17 days of standby time in 3G mode. We've heard it should probably keep going for around 3 days on a single charge under normal use.
The BlackBerry Bold 9700 will be available from November, but the original Bold will also remain on sale as well should you prefer the chunkier predecessor.
