UPDATE: The BlackBerry Thunder is also available for pre–order now in the UK Expansys store.
It’s been the subject of furious web rumours, but now the touchscreen Blackberry 9500, also known as the ‘Thunder’, is officially on sale.
Unearthed by eagle eyed Stuff.tv reader Paulo Segurado at Expansys Ireland, the new iPhone–baiter comes with the aforementioned touch interface, Wi–Fi, Bluetooth 2.0, HSDPA, mini–USB, full text and MMS support, as well as the full email package you’d expect from a BlackBerry.
The sales blurb on the site says you can also, "Build play lists of your favourite songs and organise your media files. You can even use BlackBerry Media Sync to transfer desktop iTunes music files to your BlackBerry."
The specs do not list any kind of camera, which is a surprise, but this phone really does look like it could take on and beat the iPhone, especially in the business stakes.
We’re onto BlackBerry now to get an official statement, so keep it locked to Stuff.tv for more as it happens.
