It’s obvious by looking at RIM’s BlackBerry 8800 that it means business. The full QWERTY keyboard, the smart black and silver suit – you can tell there’s a lot of ‘blue sky thinking’ gone into its design. There’s only one problem: where’s the Wi-Fi?Well worry no more CrackBerry addicts, over the pond RIM’s just announced the 8820 – all the business features of the 8800 but with a new Wi-Fi heart transplant. As with the iPhone there’s no 3G, so stray out of a hotspot and you’ll be plunged back into the dark depths of EDGE or GPRS. Perish the thought.Still, the new addition makes it a contender for Nokia’s beefcake N95, albeit a less entertaining one. There’s still GPS on-board, a memory expansion slot that accepts high capacity microSDHC cards and the best portable emailing software in the business. There’s still one problem though: we’ve not been told if or when it’s coming to the UK. Come on RIM – it is blackberry season, after all.Essentials BlackBerry 8820 Price: £TBA On sale: TBA Contact: RIM Related stories: GPS BlackBerry never loses sight of the office Video review: RIM’s curvy new BlackBerry Curse of the new BlackBerry Pearl
